CLC Art Walk to feature "doors" to student creativity

CLC ArtwalkAs part of Lincoln's monthly art walk, the Community Learning Center's Art Walk joins area galleries Friday, May 4 from 6-8pm, at Old City Hall, 9th and O Streets. The exhibit will include more than 300 pieces of art from elementary, middle and high school students at Lincoln Public Schools, displayed on two full floors of the old City Hall building and this year expanding into the adjacent outdoor park area.

The theme of this year's exhibit is the theme of the Community Learning Centers: "Open Doors, Open Minds." In connection with that theme, the event will spotlight eight special doors – created by students from eight CLC sites – that have been decorated to match the styles of different Impressionist artists such as Picasso, Matisse, Monet and O'Keefe. In addition, the artwork exhibit will include a wide variety of mediums, styles and methods.

STUDIO LAB #1

OmniArts nebraska is happy to announce, STUDIO LAB #1, a performance arts intensive workshop over 4 Fridays, where participants will have the opportunity to train with 3 professional artists in 3 different art forms--voice, storytelling and movement-- over the course of each class, and to perform in an OmniArts nebraska showcase/salon for their friends, family and the public at the end of the intensive. These classes will be led by area artists, Daniel Kubert, Laurie Martinez, and Dustin Witte.

With compassionate support and guidance, these globally trained professionals will give the opportunity to develop an original cabaret-style performance which is only limited by your imagination... This can be a new piece or guidance on a piece already being developed. We will gather and begin with a low-impact, energizing, physical warm up promptly at 10 am. Lunch will be served.
