Lincoln Community Playhouse Announces Open Call for Visual Artists for "Opening Night Art"

Lincoln Community Playhouse announces an open call for visual artists interested in a gallery show at The Enersen Gallery during the “Believe Again” Season 65 at Lincoln Community Playhouse. 

"Opening Night Art" will take place on the first Friday of each Mainstage production.  Artist responsibilities will include hosting an opening night reception in the gallery and offering all art work for sale with a donation going to the Playhouse. Art work will be shown throughout the performance run of the featured Mainstage production.

Deadline for Fred Simon Gallery Today!

Fred Simon Gallery InteriorNAC Fred Simon Gallery Seeks Nebraska Visual Artists for the 2011-12 Exhibit Season. The Nebraska Arts Council announces a special opportunity for Nebraska visual artists to display their work in the Fred Simon Gallery.

The two-room gallery is located at the NAC offices at the historic Burlington Place building in downtown Omaha's Old Market. Featuring stone walls, northern lighting, and overlooking Gene Leahy mall, it provides a unique venue for solo shows or collaborative ventures for an artist team. The gallery focuses on approximately six exhibits per season.

Talent Plus Inc. Call for Artists

Talent Plus Inc. would like to continue to ‘support’ Lincoln’s local artists and is requesting a call for artists. Artists can be up and coming or established. Talent Plus Inc. will display a local artist each month in their building. The artist will be invited to join Formation (an informal discussion) during that month to share a little bit of their background and passion for art. Artists should Contact Shawna Leach directly to coordinate the time to display, pick up the art and find a Formation time/day that works best with their schedule to share more with associates. 2010 World Day on the Mall

World Day on the MallWorld Day on the Mall is a non-profit organization that holds a diversity event every year. This year’s event is Thursday, September 16, 2010  on Centennial Mall South located at 15th & M Streets. Through a partnership with State Government and Agencies, and local businesses, World Day on the Mall celebrates the diversity of cultures in Nebraska and honors the daily contributions of State employees. World Day on the Mall is an opportunity to share, experience, and value other cultures in our community through ethnic food, music, entertainment, and information about our global society.

This event is free & open to the public. Come and enjoy "A World of Differencfe" at this year's World Day on the Mall celebration starting at 10:00 am continuing through 2:30 pm. Share cultures from around the world with out leaving Lincoln!

Quilts for Community

Observe and visit with members of the Lincoln Quilters Guild as they work on their Habitat for Humanity project. In the past six years, LQG members have made nearly 2,000 quilts and donated them to city hospitals, Habitat for Humanity, Crisis Pregnancy Center, People's City Mission, Heritage Home for Children, Bags of Love, and other agencies.

Workshop: Miniature Masterpieces by Machine, Barbara Caron

Learn how to create a wide variety of tiny quilts using quick-machine piecing techniques that also work beautifully for full-size quilts. Use scraps or favorite fabrics to make miniature versions of favorite designs including Amish Bars, Log Cabin, Roman Stripe, Fence Rail, and so much more. Includes tips for quilting and finishing. Skill level: Intermediate [Must be comfortable with machine piecing]

Instructor: Barbara Caron, Assistant Director of the International Quilt Study Center & Museum, and National Quilting Association Certified teacher.
