Open Door:artwork by Robert Donlan
Posted by: Haydon Art Center
In collaboration with a city-wide celebration of Outsider Art, the Haydon Art Center is proud to exhibit Open Door: artwork by Robert Donlan on exhibit August 23-28.
Donlan has experienced severe psychotic episodes in his life, one of which while living in Chicago, left him haunted and inspired to create a body of work that mapped the episode in detail. The Haydon’s exhibition “Open Door” displays the first 33 works in the full series, focusing on the first half of his tormented experience. Donlan used collage, drawing, watercolor and mixed media to create a sequence of work that is meticulous in nature and intricate by design. The artwork threads a narrative through Donlan’s thoughts as he visually explains to the world what most people could never understand. Open Door will leave viewers with a new understanding of the human mind and experience.
Join us for an Artist Talk and Reception Thursday, August 26 from 5-7:00pm. Robert Donlan will be in attendance.
This exhibition is generously sponsored by Carl and Janet Eskridge.Partial funding from The Cooper Foundation.
