The Spidey Project

The Spidey Project

Look out evil villains, there is a new super musical comedy coming to the stage! The theatre company that brought to the stage such regional premiers as Gilligan's Island The Musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Happy Days: A New Musical continues its tradition with the regional premiere of The Spidey Project-With Great Powers Comes Great Responsibility opening April 12th at the TADA Theatre.

Created by Justin Moran of the People's Improv Theatre in Manhattan, the New York production became an overnight media sensation when Mr. Moran laid the smackdown to that other web-slinging musical proving that a live production could be done for far less than $65 million and focus on the story, characters and music. Now TADA has worked directly with the show creators to snag the regional premiere rights.

The Spidey Project is a quick witted, Saturday Night Live-type tribute to the popular webslinger. It features sensational original music, a core company of actors playing all the different roles in the show, and comic book panel scenery drawn by award-winning artist Bob Hall. The result is a brilliant parody production that will leave crowds laughing with no unintentional injuries.

The creator of the show, Justin Moran, is slated to attend the show in Lincoln and is excited about the collaboration with TADA. "I'm thrilled that TADA is mounting the regional premiere of the Spidey Project. They have a reputation for doing great work, and I can't wait to see what they bring to Spidey!" says Moran.

The cast features the talents of Michael Semrad, Amanda McGill, Joseph Lee, Ladd Wendelin, Morgan Smith, Zach Huit, Bill Maltas, Cris Rook, Anna Christy, Jaci Manning and Michael Booton. The Spidey Project is directed by Robert D. Rook with musical direction by Cris Rook, choreography by Mandi Maser, accompaniment by William Maltas, technical direction by Chuck Danskin, scenic artwork by Bob Hall, properties by Ladd Wendelin, and production management by Megan Rook. This production is brought to the stage with generous support from Union Bank and Trust.

Cast member Senator Amanda McGill says: "This regional premiere is an exciting opportunity for our State. TADA has done a wonderful job at once again acquiring a production to help showcase our city. It is a pleasure to be part of this great company of actors. We hope everyone will come out and see this clever musical comedy."

Production dates are April 12-15/19-22/26-29/May 3-6 with performance times Thursday-Saturday at 7:30 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm. Tickets are $20.00 (Thursday-Saturday) and $18.00 (Sunday matinees). There will be a special 10:00 pm show on Saturday, April 21 (tickets $15 or $10 with student I.D.). The award-winning TADA Theatre is located in the Creamery Building at 7th & P Streets in the historic Haymarket district of Lincoln, Nebraska. Tickets can be reserved by calling (402) 438-TADA (8232) or on-line at www.tadatheatre.info.
